filmghoul: Bones Brigade: An Autobiography (Stacy Peralta, 2012) To quote my friend Angelica’s review, Stacy Peralta is, indeed, “kind of a genius”. After a series of highly successful documentary films, he crafts here an amazingly inspirational Bones Brigade documentary about the Bones Brigade made by the Bones Brigade, while managing to feel all but masturbatory. Featuring in-depth interviews with Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, the captivating Rodney Mullen, Peralta himself and many more, this is a great inward look at the few individuals that quite literally shaped the sport into what it is today. A must for skaters, or anyone looking to learn something new, this film provide great historical perspective on a discipline most, me included, just take for granted. Grown men’s tears, half-pipes and bangin’ 80s tunes await.
